Montenegrin seafarers begin their education in one of two Maritime High Schools, in Bar or Kotor, specializing in Nautical, Marine Engineering, or Freight Transport. Further training continues at ISO 9001-certified Maritime Faculties in Kotor and Bar, audited by Lloyd’s Register. These institutions offer modern programs aligned with international maritime standards, combining theory and practical skills to prepare graduates for careers with shipping companies worldwide.

Higher Maritime Education in Montenegro
From High School to ISO-Certified Maritime Faculties with Internationally Recognized Training
Maritime High School in Kotor also provides a six-month program of prequalification for gaining a four- year level of education in Nautical and Engine department.
After high school students continue their education in one of two Maritime Faculties, a state one in Kotor and a private one in Bar both certified by the ISO 9001 quality system. The audit of the quality system and renovation of the (three-year) certificate is done by the Lloyd Register.
These Maritime Faculties are modern institutions for educating maritime staff.
Maritime specialists are educated and trained in accordance with international standards, conventions and recommendations.
The education of maritime professionals is performed through regular classes and special training programs. The institutions are provided with modern equipment and teaching aids, as well as with equipment for practical training.
The quality of knowledge and skills of a wide range of application enable the graduate students of both Maritime Faculties to be employed by shipping companies worldwide.

- To give full and complete effect to the new training and assessment requirements of the amended Standards of Training, Certification and Watch keeping (STCW 1995) Convention.

- To provide the vocational and academic education, skills and knowledge base that are an essential foundation for the modern technical skills required in today’s water transportation industry.
